Our Philosophy

Connect Counselling and Psychotherapy honours the fundamental need of all human beings; that is to find relational fulfilment, understanding our connection with others and with ourselves. We aim to help those who struggle with the many challenges we face in life and in our closer relationships; from frequent miscommunication, to negative attitudes, rigid mindsets and difficult emotions.

Sometimes, the hurt and pain we receive can make us lose hope, and enriching and nourishing relationships can seem so far away. In very evident ways, relational struggles deeply impact our moods and emotions. Anxiety and depression are two very common results, in turn blocking our openness and enjoyment of life. Yet, when you choose to travel with a highly trained and caring professional partner, we can turn such setbacks into a liberating journey. Connect deeply believes in partnering with you in this journey of explorative solution-finding.

We walk together to bring about practical insights and useful actions. Such a journey can bring about more than just solutions to problems – it can yield a state of realization, that life can be wonderful.

Frequently Asked Questions

Therapy teaches us how our minds work and helps us navigate our feelings, build healthier behaviours, and develop different relationships with our thoughts so that we can discover how we want to live our lives and become empowered to do so.

It is important to realise that while therapy is scientifically proven to work, it is a process that takes place over time.

You may be asked to complete tasks, to reflect or to practice skills learned during your sessions. Reflection and practicing what you learn in session are extremely important in achieving the changes you may be seeking.

Therapy can vary a great deal in terms of  duration.  Each person’s needs are unique and our presenting issues when we start therapy vary, so the frequency and number of sessions will naturally also differ from client to client.

Should you wish to discuss your particular needs with any of our therapists, you are welcome to book a free 20 minute initial session via the “Book” tab. This will provide an opportunity for you to ask questions and seek clarification.

Confidentiality is a core pillar of the counselling experience. What you share with your counsellor will not be repeated to anyone else.

There are however some important exceptions to this principle. For example, your safety has to be our priority, so, if we are concerned that you may be intending to hurt yourself then ethically we are required to break confidentiality, if needed, in order to provide information to doctors or your chosen emergency contact and so get you the help that may be needed.

Your therapist will explain the extent and limits of confidentiality with you in more detail during your first session.

For sessions held online at Temple Street or Eng Hoon Street:

You will receive a digital invoice on the day of your appointment containing links to pay via credit card and our UEN for payment via PayNow.

For sessions held at Orchard Road:

Please make payment at the reception counter after your session. Payment can be made via NETs, GrabPay, PayNow, bank transfer and in cash. An invoice/receipt will be sent to you following your session.

Therapy is a subjective experience, and one of the most important factors for success is the relationship between client and therapist. It is important to feel comfortable with your prospective counsellor.

We are all individuals, and great relationships are not possible with everyone we meet.  We all like and respond to different communication styles and approaches.

At Connect Counselling we offer free 20 minute consultation sessions that provide you with an opportunity to meet with your prospective therapist online.  This free consultation comes with no obligations or expectations.

These initial consultations also allow your therapist to gain an understanding of your initial counselling needs. Should your therapist discover that they are perhaps not the right fit they may be able to support you with relevant referrals or information to help you find what you are looking for.

If you are interested in booking an appointment with a Connect Counselling therapist, you can do so directly from their profile page.

You are also welcome to book a free 20 minute introductory consultation. This is helpful if you wish to meet with one of us to make an informed decision about your counselling needs, and whether you wish to start counselling with a particular therapist.

You can book your free 20 minute consultation via the “Book” tab at the top of the page.

Please feel free to browse our service offerings and information about relevant fees in the “Services and Specialties” and “Book” tabs at the top of our homepage or via the “Fees” link in the page footer.
