Personal Approach
Ellen aims to pace along with clients through their ups and downs in life. She has a passion to work with youths and couples, encouraging them to be gentle with themselves while also cheering them on with their steps of self-awareness, growth and achievement.
She uses her integrated experiences and resources to provide support for families and youths going through crises, mental health stressors, emotional or attachment trauma.
Ellen believes in the bio-psycho-social-spiritual model for the care of her clients. In turn, she hopes to leave them feeling empowered and resilient in embracing their life experiences.
Ellen provides trauma-focused counselling and emotional support to individuals, couples, and families in a safe and non-judgemental space.
With her prior counselling experience in university, community and healthcare settings, her outreach encompasses a range of areas that include concerns in adjustments, marital, parenting, caregiving, and mental health.
Ellen has journeyed with clients of various ages as they have faced interpersonal relationship issues, stress, depression, anxiety, grief, and traumatic or difficult childhood experiences.
She integrates her approach by drawing from experiences and knowledge from her training in attachment-focused Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Gottman Method Couples’ Therapy (Levels 1 & 2), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy, and Hypnosis.
Before making her career change to counselling and psychotherapy in 2013, Ellen worked in the information technology sector within the government and financial industries. This experience has allowed her to understand and empathise with issues regarding work dynamics, work-life balance, goal setting and other corporate challenges.
Her warmth and compassion, together with her commitment to continual learning, to improve her therapeutic skills, enable Ellen to support individuals and couples in their journey to becoming more self-aware, emotionally resilient and to having meaningful relationships with others.
